Downtown Halifax is the urban heart of the Halifax (Kjipuktuk) region. With world-class attractions, hundreds of restaurants, pubs, shops, festivals and events, Downtown Halifax is where people and businesses want to be. 

Downtown Halifax Business Commission (DHBC) is a not-for-profit organization that represents the 1600+ businesses located in the Downtown area. We run programs, events, and marketing initiatives to help make Downtown Halifax a better place to live, work, and play.

Downtown Halifax Business Commission (DHBC) is pleased to share the (initial) 2025 Gritty to Pretty grant recipients.  

Being the 10th anniversary for the placemaking grant program, the initial call-out included ten prioritized projects, all with pre-determined locations identified.
